99% of philosophy is irrelevant now that we have scientific empiricism. The 1% that does have real value is generally ignored by ordinary people because it would require a modicum of intellectual effort to comprehend and the implications would clash with people's simple-minded beliefs. Studying philosophy is therefore almost always pointless; far better to study physics because then one can truly explore the boundaries of reality, rather than idly pontificating in ignorance about problems that science has largely solved already.
