A good analysis, John, except for the fact that as best as we can tell Crassus was a vainglorious fool but not a total cretin. Trump, conversely, is perhaps the most supremely ignorant and utterly mindless creature ever to soil the insides of the White House. He’s so accustomed to bluster and lying without consequence that I doubt he had even the slightest comprehension of the import of his action here. No doubt his equally brainless supporters will lap it all up, as per usual.
