A good article, but it’s important to realize there is more to taking a multivitamin with minerals than merely reducing risk of disease. In addition to improving overall health & vitality by supplementing one’s diet, studies by the Brain Performance Nutrition Research Center under professor David O. Kennedy have shown that even for those consuming a healthy diet (which, sadly, is a minority pursuit these days…) a daily multi-vitamin with minerals can significantly improve performance across seven different measures of cognitive function.
Furthermore, the “too much vitamin E can harm you” results appear largely to be an artifact of the statistical techniques used in the relevant analyses rather than a fundamental metabolic effect. I hope further research is undertaken to clarify the situation.
