A great article, Helen. If it’s any consolation, stats indicate only 3% of US citizens have a gym membership at any time, and most of those folk buy their memberships in early January and rarely use them thereafter. Which is why nearly all US citizens begin to suffer from chronic ailments starting as early as their forties. For myself I’ve always been very active and continue to be so now I’m in my 60s. Two years ago I was at the gym and was told by a fellow gym-goer, “You won’t find it so easy when you get to be my age.” Turns out he was 43; I was 59. So don’t stop working out!
