A lovely article, marred only by the inevitable US conflation of negative words with sexual activity. It’s really not “dirty” talk; it’s erotic talk. Sex is not bad, dirty, wrong, shameful etc. I’ve always found it sad that so many US women exclaim “shit!” during passion.

In northern Europe where sex is regarded as a joyful and natural aspect of adult life, I’ve never ever heard anyone call sex “dirty” or shout “shit!” as orgasm approaches. Perhaps if the USA were a little more European in outlook there would be less tendency to confuse sex and shame.
