A nice counter-intuitive article. But… it also leaves out some important details. For example in Switzerland there is indeed a relatively high rate of gun ownership, but… who owns these and what are they? The vast majority of Swiss guns are kept by reservists and they are long guns. Switzerland has a very “be responsible” culture and recently voted to reduce the number of guns in circulation. In the USA the vast majority of gun homicides are by non-military and involve easily hidden handguns. The USA has a very gun-oriented “be a strong guy, stand your ground” culture and there’s zero chance of ever reducing the number of guns in circulation. It’s apparently little details like this that can change the meaning of data sets dramatically….
