A pertinent article, Jamie, but because most people's knowledge of reality could be written on the back of a non-existent postage stamp, I doubt you'll change anyone's mind with mere facts and reason. After all, we've all seen endless sci-fi movies and so magichyperdrivewarptech must be real, or at least achievable - because Hollywood says so! And provided we never bother to do the math, we can pretend Hogwarts-style Alcubierre drives or wormholes will be "the answer." In short, just as people believe in invisible magical pixies merely because someone dressed in funny clothes tells them so, people will likewise believe in impossible startrek fantasies merely because (a) they've seen it on the screen, and (b) they have precisely zero clue about anything remotely resembling real understanding of the problem.
