For young US citizens, what’s the most important thing in the world today?

Like a Roman citizen living in the fifth century CE we have the rather unwanted privilege of watching our civilization fall around us. The Age of Tyrants has begun, as dictators in Russia, North Korea, and China understand the West is now incapable of putting up even a vague show of resistance. Within the West itself, far-right populist-nationalist demagogues are taking power with the intent to turn their own nations into copies of Putin’s Russia and Erdogan’s Turkey. Creatures like Orban and Fico prance and posture, blocking NATO and the European Union at every turn while their antics go entirely unchecked. In the USA, the mindless creature Trump is about to destroy the last remnants of everything the nation depends on for its survival.

Such is the total impotence of the West, fatally crippled by clinging to a system of governance entirely unsuited to the complexities and challenges of our modern technological world.

So, as everything we rely on for our security and prosperity collapses everywhere we look, what are young people in the USA most focused on? They are, after all, the ones whose lives will be most radically marred by the catastrophes inevitably wrought by the incompetent venal buffoons who now control the reins of power. Do…
