A very cogent article, Edwin. I think all that's missing is to point out that a high-wage/high-cost economy is also a high-inflation economy, so we really are going back to the dark days of the 1970s. Furthermore, again as per the late 60 and through the 70s, anyone who has a decent education and any modicum of common sense will flee dreary backward Britain for a far better life elsewhere. Thus the brain drain will also repeat itself, leading to less innovation, fewer jobs, and even greater stagflation.

Brexit is indeed a resounding success - for Putin, who helped fund it by channeling illicit cash through Aaron Banks. We shall see if Putin is able to pull off a similar trick with the next French presidential election; after all, he's already given more than seven million Euros to Le Pen's far-right Party so there's no reason why a little extra nudge this time around won't swing the deal his way.

And both the dupes who voted for Brexit and the dupes who vote for Le Pen think they're being "patriotic." It is absolutely hilarious - for those of us, that is, who can get out of backward Britain.
