A very sensible article. I'd add, after a lifetime of experiences, that you never truly know another person until you've been through real adversity with them - and I'm not talking about the trite non-adversity stuff like covid lockdowns or losing luggage on a vacation trip. I'm talking about loss of job, serious illness, being stranded halfway up a mountain in a blizzard kind of stuff. Only then do you really discover who you're with.
