Actually, rules don’t exist for (valid) reasons. Very often they exist in order to reinforce the privileges of the elite, or to benefit a narrow group that was in position to influence those who make the rules. Assuming blindly that all rules are “for our own good” is a naive posture utterly repudiated by even the slightest glance at history and contemporary legislation. Especially during a time when the media has whipped so many into a state of mindless hysteria, it would be good to step back and consider one’s axioms before making blanket statements along the lines of “do whatever we’re told because it’s always the right thing to do.”
Only one group of people benefit from that sort of thinking, and I rather suspect you’d be unhappy with the results.
