All myths adapt the myths immediately preceding them, and so over the years a tapestry is built up wherein many different influences are interwoven. Christianity clearly has traces of cannibal cults ("this is my body, this is my blood") as well as many rather contrived layers of Judaic messianic conformity. Not surprisingly, the Yahweh cult itself is highly derivative, being an awkward amalgam of the cult of El and several other local tribal deities. In the end, the details aren't really important. What is significant is the fact so many humans are so desperate to believe in invisible magical pixies that they will swallow anything at all so long as it is simplistic and tells them that mummy and daddy are there to look after them forever.
