Although I personally loathe Kissinger for many of the reasons you state in your article, we have to remember that he was hardly alone in his policy of sacrificing others so that a few lucky Westerners could grow ever more obese and become ever more complacent in their ignorance. The British and French were happy to sacrifice nations to Hitler before WWII and equally happy to sacrifice other nations to Stalin afterward. We elect morons merely because they promise to get rid of dark-skinned foreigners and we scream loudly if anyone has the temerity even to suggest that we take in a few refugees. So Kissinger was in tune with the vast preponderance of humankind, and in the end creatures like Kissinger derive their power and influence from those who quietly enable their perpetual short-term quick-fix approaches.
