Although Musk is outstanding at gulling naive and credulous investors out of billions of dollars, few of his ventures make any economic sense. Tesla survives (for the moment...) by selling carbon offset credits, which are rapidly declining in value as more auto-makers begin to roll out their own EVs. SpaceX barely breaks even on commercial launches, and the risible idea that everyone and their pet hamster is going to pay for Starlink Internet access is nothing short of delusional. Developed nations already have Internet access for 90% of their populations, and developing nations don't have people with sufficient funds to afford Starlink's prices - should they be high enough to enable the company to reach breakeven. Of course, if the cost of Starlink is low enough to attract impoverished customers, there's no way the company will ever reach breakeven.
In short, Musk's abilities as a huckster dramatically outweigh any business abilities he may claim to possess. Despite this, no doubt his legion of fanboys will continue to insist that his companies are "the way of the future" right up to, and probably even beyond, the point where they all go out of business.
