Amusingly enough, we can look back and see precisely the same predictions being made every decade or so from the 1970s onward. Turns out there are many reasons why we don’t have (and won’t get) flying cars, personalized medicine, etc. in the coming decade. But that never prevents a booster from getting their book into the NYT best-seller list, just as Alvin Toffler did so many decades ago with Future Shock. Which was hilariously wrong about pretty much everything, as are the predictions referenced in this article.
