An excellent article, Edward. Well written and well argued. The only problem is that we humans evolved under conditions of scarcity, which means we do as little thinking as possible. Most people, indeed go from cradle to grave without ever once in their lives conceiving of an original thought. Most simply repeat what they're told, imagining it to be their own "opinion." As such, we can't be tremendously optimistic that most people will attempt to grapple with reality. Platitudinous nonsense is simply so much easier to parrot and hence it's the default strategy.
