An interesting point, SC, and one upon which I didn't touch in the article mostly because after 27 years living in the USA I simply can't imagine progressives/liberals doing more than talking and waving placards whereas the right never hesitates to use force. So a secessionist movement could have lots of popular support but it seems unclear this support would translate into meaningful action in the face of Federal refusal to countenance any change to the status quo. I'm sure plenty of liberal-minded folk are talking; action, however, it a very different proposition indeed.
