Are you going to follow up with a story about why US citizens measure things in sticks? And why not also in twigs, branches, and trunks? As for the Brits, don't forget they still measure weights in stones (no, I'm not inventing this, they really do) but likewise fail to proceed to using pebbles, rocks, and boulders. Seems like there are a lot of measurement missed opportunities just waiting to be exploited. By the (back) yard.
