But one could argue that social media is doing us all a favor by helping to accelerate a process that otherwise could drag on for decades: the collapse of western civilization. Thanks to ubiquitous social media and the zero-second attention span/mindless meme attitude it engenders, we can skip years of slow decline and get to total social collapse within a single generation. And if that’s not real progress, I don’t know what is!
