As fascism has taken over the Republican Party and is thus now the dominant ideology of the USA, the anti-fascist movements are in a no-win situation. It's too easy for right-wing agents provocateur to infiltrate them and thus create the kinds of on-camera violence the Republican Party can immediately use as propaganda. Yet purely peaceful protests are ineffective when confronted with US paramilitaries operating illegally and being willing to use excessive force more or less at random. As Gandhi noted, non-violent protest can only work in a society based on the rule of law, and the USA has never really been such a society and certainly is not one today. As Germany discovered in the early 1930s, the far-right almost always have the best cards to play. The future thus does not look good.
