As I have written in articles here on Medium, the probability of any technologically advanced alien civilization existing close enough in space and time to us is essentially zero. Our brains aren't hardwired to deal with large quantities, so we tend to default to sci-fi fantasies and fail to perform basic statistical analyses based on the empirical data we presently possess. When we do examine the data, however, we see that it's vanishingly implausible to imagine anything other than that we are utterly alone and will remain so until our species ceases to exist - which, in all probability, will be within the next few hundred years.
