As obesity is turning out to be a major risk factor for covid-19 severity, it seems that high levels of C-reactive protein show predisposition to accelerated inflammation due to inflammation already being present, caused by the various stresses obesity places on the human body. Fortunately, recent data from countries doing full-population screening shows that more than 90% of people infected will be completely asymptomatic; of the remainder most experience mild cold symptoms (WHO data, early August). And to date even the hardest-hit nations are experiencing a mortality rate of less than one-tenth of one percent.
In fact, if the media hadn't spent the last 5 months whipping us into hysteria over SARS-CoV2 in order to grab eyeballs to generate ad revenues, no one would have noticed the pandemic at all. Nearly ten times as many people die each month from smoking-related diseases and we don't notice this death toll; we wouldn't have noticed a mortality rate an order of magnitude smaller. Thank goodness we have the media to panic us into shutting down the world, throwing 1.5 billion people into financial insecurity, and likely causing up to 250,000,000 deaths over the next 10 years as a result of cessation of vaccination programs, starvation, and illnesses (WHO estimates). But it's all good: those people we've condemned have dark skins, live far away, and the media has zero interest in reporting the plight we've pushed them into. So we can rest easy.
