As should be clear to anyone by now, nothing Trump does will lead to his impeachment in the Senate. Trump can nuke California and eat a baby live on camera and the GoP will remain firmly behind him. He can invite Putin to seize the Baltic states and offer Erdogan carte blanche to annex Massachusetts and his dull-eyed supporters will keep chanting the slogans he’s fed them, and this is the only reality that counts. Trump has an unshakable bloc of nearly 43 million people who are as mind-numbingly stupid and ignorant as he is, and no Republican politician wishing to hang on to the illusion of power will do anything that the drooling howling mob could construe as anti-Trump behavior, even while Trump incontinently eviscerates everything the Republican Party pretends to believe in.
