As someone who lived in the USA for 27 years, and who has traveled and worked around the globe, I can think of literally dozens of countries that offer a far higher quality of life than the USA, in which nearly everything is totally dysfunctional. It's simply because most US citizens never experience life abroad (quick tourist trips to somewhere don't count) and thus don't realize how impoverished life in the USA truly is. Nor do US citizens realize how perpetually fearful they are - it's their "normal" so they don't even notice.
