As US police officers are generally entirely the wrong personality type and their training is abysmal, the only plausible solution is wholesale replacement. But that's impractical. In consequence it's extremely unlikely that any meaningful change will occur, which means that it's plausible to imagine protestors becoming intolerant of being brutalized by uniformed thugs acting with total impunity. In a nation of 400+ million firearms it's obvious that eventually the situation will deteriorate and everyone involved will come to far greater harm. It's theoretically avoidable but the USA is so deeply dysfunctional that the worst-possible-case outcome seems by far the most likely to occur.
