As you rightly point out, the US Republican Party has been a 'power at any cost" organization for at least the last two decades. Democrats are now drawing entirely the wrong lesson from the recent election which, as The Economist pointed out, would have resulted in a second Trump term if only 46,500 voters had swung the other way in a nation of 328,000,000 people - thanks to the perpetually dysfunctional Electoral College system. The real take-away from Trump's four years is the statement made by one perspicacious observer: "Just think what they'd have done if they hadn't been completely incompetent." The fact is, the USA is over. Biden's one-term interruption will do nothing to change the end-game, which will occur when a far more intelligent and self-controlled individual applies the lessons the orange moron accidentally taught, and thereby becomes Emperor of the USA. But don't worry - just like ancient Rome, we'll preserve the Senate (in name) and we'll still, like Putin, pretend to have votes. And we'll still have streaming video reality shows, so no one will even notice.
