Companies love the idea of automated tests, automated resume analysis, and automated hiring. I mean, it's so much easier than having to do it in person, right? And so what if the algorithms are actually terrible at selecting great candidates? We can easily claim that the particular candidates our tests skew towards ARE the greatest! If we're a big company, who's going to challenge us on that? And so what if we automatically de-select people who'd potentially come up with innovative ways to solve problems? Those folk are likely just troublemakers anyhow. The really super great thing about algorithms: they never ask for a pay raise and they never hint you may have done something really, really stupid by relying on them.
