Considering the media helped Trump get elected merely because he was the most entertaining freak show in decades and thus was great for grabbing eyeballs and thus boosting ad revenues, the idea that the media has a positive role to play is laughable. The media is part of the problem, and in no way the solution to anything at all. Self-delusion doesn't help in the slightest. Further more, claiming that an interview in which the journalist lets Trump lie repeatedly over the most basic things, rolls over and accepts endless mis-statements, and merely attempts occasionally to ask a fractionally difficult question is “hard-hitting journalism” is absurd. This interview is precisely why the media is worse than useless these days. Letting an orange moron lie endlessly on camera is not journalism; it’s merely pointless amplification of simple-minded propaganda.
