Did you know Henry V was a racist? Did you know Cleopatra was a slave-owner? Did you know Aristotle, Plato, and even Marcus Aurelius totally failed to live up to today's Politically Correct performative posturing? Imagine! People who lived prior to our precious PC moment in time didn't share the same values we proclaim. They didn't live in the same kinds of society, their economic situation was very different, and their educational systems were totally different as well. In short, we could reasonably accuse everyone born before 1980 of being a racist. But, so what? What's the purpose? To feel good about how Pure and Sensitive we are? Performative posturing is actually intellectually flaccid and socially pointless. Fortunately, in a few years it will be over and everyone will attempt to forget how specious it was while it lasted.
