Does it really matter what Musk's reasons were for firing half of the Twitter staff - and then desperately re-hiring many when he belatedly realized they were in fact essential? Musk is a blustering moron, a spoiled little rich boy whose parents' fortune was made by owning an emerald mine in South Africa than employed de facto slave labor. Everything Musk has taken credit for (aside from his boosterism) has actually been the work of other people, and most of his business decisions have been abysmally stupid.

It is testimony to how credulous people are that Musk's self-proclaimed "genius" has gained such wide traction despite every single element of real-world data pointing in precisely the opposite direction. Musk's only real genius is extracting money from gullible investors and persuading perpetually naive journalists that he's something more than a flabby self-obsessed halfwit.
