Einstein’s General Theory is also an example of how important ideas rarely spring fully-formed from the mind of a single individual but instead are the consequence of many important predecessors which, when combined and extended, yield astonishing results. As Newton himself said, “If I have seen further than other men it is because I stood on the shoulders of giants.”
