Everyone and their pet has an opinion on the subject of weight loss. From watching a great many people attempt to lose weight I can simply say that psychological attitude seems to be the determining factor. Those who accept the need to change their lives tend to succeed while those looking for a quick-fix invariably pile on even more weight post-diet. We evolved to be active but today we’re mostly indolent. We evolved to live a relatively short lifespan but today we typically live for nearly eight decades. We evolved under conditions of food scarcity but today we’re surrounded by McSlop. Unless we’re able to recognize the need for daily exercise that includes both cardio and resistance training, and recognize the need to eat only healthy foods (ideally made at home from raw ingredients), we’re unlikely to enjoy most of our time on Earth because we’ll be stumbling from one fad diet to the next, getting perpetually less and less healthy, and always searching for the illusory pill or drink or fad diet that will magically correct the problems created by our poor lifestyle choices.
