Why we need to accept that the world we used to know is gone forever, and prepare ourselves for what’s to come

As Plato some 2,400 years ago explained would necessarily be the case, democracy has resulted in tyranny. There’s no point being surprised by this fact, nor by the results of tens of millions of ignorant foolish people voting to put the world’s stupidest person back into the US White House and surrounding him with a repellent group of slithering servile lackeys. It’s bad enough when a smaller nation goes down the tubes, but as the USA used to be the world’s leading economic power the consequences of MAGA Morons in charge again are global in scale.

As I’ve written before here on Medium, there’s no point pretending that mindless vermin like Trump are somehow propelled by magic into the highest offices. It’s qualification-free representative democracy (henceforth QFRD for the sake of brevity) that puts them there. All over the world the same type of blustering incompetents are elected: Orban in Hungary, Fico in Slovakia, Erdogan in Turkey, Putin in Russia, Modi in India… the list goes on and on and on. Trump is special only in the sense of special needs. Otherwise he’s simply just another moron benefiting from a system of governance profoundly unfit for purpose. As further proof that QFRD produces dreadful outcomes…
