First of all, any article that uses mindless hyperbole like "climate destruction" is worthless. You can't destroy a climate. Next, the core argument is ignorant. Industry now uses far less energy per unit of output than it did even as recently as a decade ago, therefore we ARE reducing energy use.

The argument is not only ignorant, stupid, and hysterical but also morally repugnant. The argument can be restated plainly as "I'm comfortable here in the West so if things remain as they are then we'll all be fine, and screw the billions of people living shit lives because they have no fresh water pumped into their homes, they have to burn carcinogenic animal dung to keep warm and to do their cooking, and they have limited access to food because they don't have an efficient transportation system. Screw them! They should have been born in the comfortable chair I'm sitting in."

In other words, the entire article is just whining lefty-trendy self-indulgence and profoundly amoral as well as being hopelessly ignorant and simple-minded.
