It’s a nice slogan. Shame nobody actually does it

During the fashionable coronapanic of 2020–2022, the Western world seemed to divide into two distinct camps, most especially in the USA. On the right (and often far-right…) were those who managed to believe simultaneously that (i) SARS-CoV2 was a hoax, and (ii) that it was a cunning Chinese bio-weapon. On the lefty-trendy “progressive” side were those who allowed themselves to be terrified by empty-headed journalists manufacturing mendacious sensationalism. According to some early straight-line projections created by doctors who actually knew nothing at all about how epidemics spread, the entire population of the world would be dead by June 2024 unless we all locked ourselves in our bathrooms and wrapped thick blankets around our heads to stop transmission of this supposedly catastrophically lethal virus.

Anyone who actually wanted to look at the empirical data and draw rational conclusions was either ignored (by the right-wingers) or screamed at by neurotic lefty-trendies as a “covid denier.” Supposed “progressives” and “concerned citizens” adopted a nice little soundbite: follow the science.

Alas, these chanting folk felt absolutely no need to do what they were supposedly advocating. What they really meant was, “don’t question the story we’ve been fed by the mass media because…
