For me, the great irony is that Orwell thought the State would have to impose surveillance systems in people's homes. In reality, we buy Orwell boxes with our own money and give them names: "Alexa." Because there's no way, really honestly truly, that any government agency or external agent/hacker would ever dream of using these easily-hacked devices to listen in to our banal conversations...
