Frankly I find it astonishing that police officers in the USA react to everything with ever-greater violence. Clearly the selection and training of officers must be abysmal. Furthermore, in a nation in which 330 million people have access to at least 400 million firearms, it would seem foolhardy in the extreme for police to brutalize ordinary citizens when some of those citizens have the capacity to meet force with force. Or perhaps it's only the ultra-right in the USA that likes to stroke and fire its guns, in which case we can assume that police brutality will continue to escalate unchecked and many more unarmed innocent citizens will perish.
