Given that our species has existed for only a few hundred thousand years, and that our probable fate is self-extinction within the next century or two, it's amusing to worry about problems that won't manifest for several billion years. Amusing, but also absurd, given the immediate problems we've created, and continue to create, for ourselves. As we can't even stop ourselves over-fishing, over-hunting, over-polluting etc. it's beyond implausible to imagine any capacity for the kind of sustained effort this article imagines. Plus the probability of unintended consequences is so large as to indicate far greater risk than any potential for far-off gain.
