Given the fact that nearly 100% of the media's coverage of SARS-CoV2 has been both irresponsibly sensationalist and wildly misleading, it seems odd to single out one newspaper for censure. The fact is, society is ill-served by for-profit reportage because the need to grab eyeballs by any means possible always creates fundamental distortions and, in many cases, outright lies. The WSJ is merely trying out a new narrative to see whether or not it will boost revenues. If it does, they and others will expand on it; if it does not, they and others will look for other revenue-producing angles. In the end, it's never about facts or responsible journalism, but it is always about the bottom line.
