Given the many deleterious effects of putting people into space, and the enormous benefits of using purely robotic missions, one must question the absurdity of spending billions to achieve little or nothing, at great risk to human life, when spending millions would yield so much more via robotic missions across the solar system. If only we could wean ourselves off silly TV and movie sci-fi we might be capable of performing much more interesting science.
