Hermes, I simply begin from a position whereby I don’t assume anything as a given, and then see where all the evidence leads. If we weren’t told about gods and goblins and souls and ghouls, we wouldn’t invent them now. People merely hold onto old ideas because they receive them in childhood and then rarely educate themselves sufficiently to dispel those old mistaken notions. And Popper, frankly, was a terrible philosopher even though personally I have a weakness for his writings on society and politics.
