Hi Tim, I’m not surprised you received blowback after sharing my covid-19 article. We humans have no capacity to reason from data as we’re hardwired by evolution to respond to anecdote, this being the way in which knowledge was transmitted for 95% of our evolutionary history, and always in the context of small hunter-gatherer groups. As I heard someone say many years ago, “Don’t try to confuse me with facts! I know what I know!”

And today, with the sensationalist media repeating the same message literally thousands of times per day, even reasonably intelligent people become overwhelmed and accept what they’re being told because it’s simply too difficult to withstand the deluge. How can one person be right when millions are all repeating the same memes? That’s how the typical human thinks, and it’s why history is littered with avoidable mistakes. The typical person only sees reality long after it has passed and been regurgitated in simplified form for mass consumption.
