I agree with your overall analysis but couldn’t help smiling at your accidental demonstration of a normal human fallible assumption: the stated example that most people acquire safe driving skills. As someone who’s taken a great many advanced driver courses, beginning with the UK Police Class One Driver and proceeding through a variety of high speed pursuit, escape & evasion, etc. as well as off-road and rally driving, I have to note that the typical driver is in fact absolutely abysmal and has nearly zero “safe driving skills.” Hence the many road traffic accidents that occur each day, of which at least 90% are due to rudimentary driver errors. Let’s hope that AI-powered self-driving vehicles have rather better algorithms when the day comes for auto-cars!
