I am impressed with DeSantis. He's understood, far better than the brainless orange cretin ever could, that democracy is the perfect vehicle for wannabe tyrants. Unlike Trump, who had no game plan whatsoever and merely whined his way through his first term, DeSantis has vision.
In Florida, he established a militia. As everyone with a working brain knows, a private army is a very useful tool by means of which to dissuade those who might otherwise pose impediments. DeSantis also knows that the average voter is utterly ignorant and basically a moron who can be controlled by means of simple-minded soundbites. Trump was accidentally good at this (the only thing he's actually been good at in his entire pathetic existence) but Trump never understood the power he had until the very end, at which point he was too spineless to exploit it. Had DeSantis been in power on 6th January, he would have used the mob to seize far greater powers and would have become the USA's first de facto emperor.
So indeed, it will be interesting to see DeSantis' career over the next decade even if the flabby sycopants of the GoP cleave to their equally flabby orange god for a few more years simply because they too are far too stupid to understand where all this is heading.
