I don't think any of these jobs are particularly well-paying, but in most parts of the USA you could at least get by on the stated average income. The main critical factor, however, is the number of job openings per year. When it comes to being a curator, this is likely in the double-digits at best. Likewise there really aren't too many openings for newly-graduated geologists.
