I find it endlessly amusing when people make the assumption that (a) our species will survive for more than another eyeblink or so of evolutionary time, and (b) we must rush off to save ourselves from…. ourselves. Because there’s no imaginable catastrophe that could wipe out every single last human other than, yes, humanity doing the job itself. So fleeing to some distant pretend-refuge is hardly an answer if we would merely be carrying the problem with us. Here’s a satirical take on this very serious issue:
