I find it fascinating (and not a little depressing) that every time some new technology appears, people rehash precisely the same old concerns and thoughts that are always promulgated. Whether it's the threat of the powered loom, the car assembly robot, or AI, we see the same old worries and same old notions of a future where work will be voluntary. It seems no one learns anything from the past, nor anything from basic economics.

AI will likely change a lot - but it won't change things in the way the author of this article imagines.
