I hope the optimistic view turns out to be correct, but unfortunately it's easy to conjure up a counter-narrative in which the latest package of US weapons systems is the last gasp the Biden administration can muster before the Republican-dominated House (now controlled by the ultra-right Freedom Caucus) stops any further aid to Ukraine and thus gives Putin the best possible gift imaginable.
