I love the idea that an already-wealthy founder who retains a huge ownership in the company (and thus can become a billionaire) is "encouraging fiscal probity" by taking a small salary. What this translates to in English, as opposed to VC-speak, is "average salaries at the company are paltry, we're screwing the employees with the promise of a magically better future that will never arrive, and as a result we get a higher share price which helps make us even more wealthy than we already are."
