I rather think that one ought to know a little more about cosmology before writing about it. It is particularly amusing to note that Hawking, in collaboration with Bekenstein, developed the mathematics to show that black holes will evaporate over cosmic timescales - thus ineluctably reducing their surface area. This seeming violation of entropy has resulted in cosmologists looking more deeply into the matter and as of today the questions raises are still largely unanswered. But what is not in doubt is that, contrary to the claim made in this naive article, black holes do in fact decrease in surface area over time therefore and so do their event horizons.
